Pregnancy Timeline
Apparently you think you'll remember these things forever, but then you don't. So it was recommended to me that I capture the milestones. When you ask me these things later and I feel guilty that I don't remember, you can come check it out here.
Of course, everyone is different, but I think this is roughly typical for a woman of my age and size who is pregnant for the first time, so I think they're worthwhile markers. Items marked with an * are usually experienced earlier in subsequent pregnancies. Women carrying multiples or who are designated high-risk for other reasons typically have more frequent ultrasounds. We had some extra ones, which are in brackets.
First ultrasound: 8 weeks. Confirmed pregnancy, saw heartbeat, dating scan revealed baby was actually 7 weeks. Reset the clock.
Heard heartbeat: 11 weeks.
Second ultrasound: 12 weeks (NT scan; optional, though I recommend it. Talk to me if you would like more information about that).
Starting to show* (ambiguous phase): 13-14 weeks.
First definite movements*: 15-16 weeks.
Needed maternity clothes* (pants): 16-17 weeks.
It's a BOY!: 19 weeks (anatomy scan; usually occurs between 18-20 weeks)
[Follow-up ultrasound: 22 weeks]
Others (who are patient) can consistently feel big kicks: 22 weeks
Glucose Tolerance Test (GTT): 23 weeks--this was earlier than is typical; I think 25-28 weeks is more standard. But I do not have the sugar diabeetus.
BA (who is less patient) can feel kicks/chorus lines/hammering/fist pumps or whatever is going on in there: 23 weeks
Took off wedding band: 30 weeks
Took off engagement ring: 33 weeks
[I had weekly monitoring at the end--non-stress tests and ultrasounds--due to high blood pressure, so I don't know what's typical. I think they do at least one ultrasound toward the end to check baby's position]
Delivery (induction): 38 weeks + 2 days
